There are many ways to volunteer in the Tennis Buddies program. You do not need to have tennis skills to get involved. We need coaches, buddies, scorekeepers, bakers, grantwriters, fundraisers, etc.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS NEBRASKA VOLUNTEER STANDARDS
Special Olympics Nebraska has various designations for Volunteers. Most of our volunteers for the Tennis Buddies Programs are "Category A" Volunteers.

"CATEGORY A" VOLUNTEER
Description: Volunteers who work one on one with Special Olympics Athletes or Teams. Become a coach, assistant coach, chaperone, or Unified Partner. "Category A" Volunteers train and compete in a sport alongside Special Olympics athletes.
Commitment: Participation in seasonal sport, average 2 hours per week for minimum of 8 weeks.
DAY OF THE EVENT VOLUNTEER
Help run a component of competition, escort athletes, keep score, present awards, announce, assist with logistics, and more!
Commitment: Part of the day of event
"Day of Event" volunteers present awards to athletes, escort athletes, keep score or times during competition, act as the announcer, etc. All of these activities take place the day of the sporting event. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want a small time commitment. All volunteers are given a brief orientation prior to the day of the event. All volunteer positions are easy to learn. . . no experience is necessary.
